THE UNKNOWN PAST

In Los Angeles, the day before her eighteenth birthday, Ella faces an attempt on her life by otherworldly assailants. A mysterious warrior rescues her but only to pull her into an alternate world with much greater danger! The brink of war has engulfed the picturesque lands of Evynlore. Wraiths amass an army for their master, a sorcerer, who is mortal against all but the one who bears KayShadden Delnor blood—her blood. She must stop the tyrant to save the world, or die along with everyone else.

The problem? In Evynlore, vows cannot be broken. If they are, you die… and Ella took a vow of pacifism long before she was ever dragged into this mess.

But there’s hope! Everyone’s been conspiring to aid her since before she was born, and as she chips away at the unknown past of her ancestry, the answer to her problem becomes clear… but she doesn’t like it. The divine was the reason she took an oath against killing, since it was God who called her friend away to a war back on Earth—but it’s looking like divine help might be what she needs to succeed, at the risk of trusting a God she knows is not to be trusted.

It isn’t helping that her dreams keep showing her the future, portraying her own imminent death with glimpses into her afterlife—a deep pit in the earth with a Beast waiting to devour her soul. 

It is helping that the warrior seems to be on her side, believing she can fulfill her destiny to such a degree that he is willing to double-cross the council to give her her best chance at completing the mission whilst making it out alive. 

Live or die, one thing is clear; she can’t escape a face-to-face encounter with God in this world. He’s even in the mirrors. However, there may be a path to change the doomed state of her afterlife, if she can discover what it is before her time runs out and the sorcerer comes knocking.

Series Summary:

Desperate to save his kingdom from falling into the sea as Pangea splits, the king of the Delnor people begs the Maker for divine intervention. The Maker creates Evynlore, a new dimension of the human world to transport the king, his lands, and his people to, so that even the grass under their feet will leave with them and be safe. 

But there's something asked of them in return: the Delnor must abandon the Morrs, the powerful demons they worship as their gods. This means they must forsake their traditions and leave behind the magic which the morrs lend them, pledging instead their loyalty to the Maker, and  only to the Maker. 

The king agrees, and Evynlore is born.

For a time, it is paradise. But within a generation, the eldest prince, craving his lost magic, seeks out the morr he once worshiped as his god. He pursues a way to connect the dimensions to regain his sorcery. He spills blood in ritualistic worship to the morr called Mortifer to create magical portals. The covenant is broken, and the Maker’s peace withdraws from Evynlore. 

These portals do more than connect the human dimensions back together by physical gateways, but simultaneously connect the human worlds to the Planes Between, the spiritual dwelling space for spirits, both the good and the bad ones. 

Before the Delnor king can create keys to lock the portals his son has made, five morrs invade Evynlore to rule as gods, including Mortifer. The morrs must be removed from Evynlore and the portals destroyed to restore peace.

But is it too late? It’s been four thousand years since the covenant was broken and not one morr has been removed or portal destroyed. 

Are the Delnor people’s destinies doomed by their ancestors' transgression? If they ask the Maker again for His help, will He answer them even though the covenant is broken?

One walks among them who Mortifer fears, but this person isn’t a Delnorian—they weren’t even originally human—but they bring with them a power stronger than magic, an ability not only to control the elements but create them. With this gift of dunamis, can the Delnor people finally right the wrong of their prince and restore Evynlore to paradise?
