Are Dragons Really Fiction?
S. R. Usher writes from a unique viewpoint that dragons existed in our world with humans. It was not till 1842 that we named dinosaurs, before that they were known as dragons. True fact, go look it up! She also believes dragons did not go extinct as long ago as some say, since the last widely accepted sighting of a dragon (meeting the fantasy description) was in 1543 in Germany, and the last sighting of a pterosaur was in 1890 in Arizona of the United States, and of course we all hear about the sightings of a plesiosaur water-dragon in Loch Ness, Scotland. Were the old sea captains' tales of sea monsters true?
The Scandinavians recorded swimming dragons in their art, as the worst tempered sea monsters which devoured ships. Vikings adorned their sea vessels with carvings and paintings of dragons to deter those sea monsters. You can read the journals of sea captains and first hand accounts in historical writings. You will find numerous sightings have been recorded. Sailors from the 1500-1900 A.D. feared these creatures then, just as hunters fear wolves and large carnivores today. Sightings of sea monsters are now rare. Perhaps the last water giants have died out, or our noisy motorized ships scare them off before anyone can catch a look at them. But winged dragons have been sighted even in our century! Did knights actually defeat winged-beasts in Europe? What we know for sure is that knowledge has been lost in history.
Evynlore Dragons.
S. R. Usher believes dragons of all forms existed, and may still exist in our world today. This adds a unique element to her series since the creatures within Evynlore have a connection with our history. Since we know so little facts about these dinosaurs, S. R. Usher took liberty to build a vast and imaginative repertoire of these creatures. In Evynlore there are four families of the dragon species. Physical and behavioral characteristics confine each family to one of the four element biospheres. Wherein those spheres countless breeds thrive across Evynlore’s biomes. Dragon families are defined by the sphere they live in, the Atmos Pterosaurs live in the skies, the Bio Drakeosaurus inhabit the earth, the Lithosaur Wyrm thieves beneath the crust and upper mantle, and the Hydrasaur Serpent swims in the seas and lakes.
