You walk through the forest following the light Àthêre sent into Evynlore for you to follow. You look up, and in the distance you see the child. She is dressed in rags with dirt on her face. The dirt is mingled with tears. Her hand holds a small animal against the forest floor while the other raises a dagger to kill the animal.

You use dunamis to shield the animal from the dagger, preventing the child from harming it. The child startles and lets go of the animal. It scurries off. You see an expression tug on her face that could almost make you believe she is happy you intervened. You wonder why she was going to kill the animal if she didn’t want to. Next, you see terror flash across her face as if her own life depended on sacrificing the animal. You know she was attempting the ritual to increase the strength of her master’s magic, and now that you prevented it, she is in danger of her master killing her. Do you approach quickly before the child runs away, or do you return to the battlefield and your men?
